    Thank you for this tremendous essay. If memory serves, one time when Mother Jones was brought before a judge on a charge that she didn’t have a permit to speak, she said, “I do have a permit, and it’s signed.” The judge asked, “Who signed it?” and Mother Jones replied, “Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and Patrick Henry.” Here is current good news about Mother Jones’s monument in Mount Olive — it’s being restored and will be rededicated this June: http://www.sj-r.com/article/20150507/NEWS/150509524
